I remember the world as it once was. A paradise of golden cities filled with unimaginable splendors. A time when Man's science shaped the planet to his will from the top of the highest citadel to the smallest living creature. Possessing a mastery of science beyond magic, Man was the absolute ruler of flesh and bone, stone and steel.

But Man was not content. Being the absolute master of the world and all that resides within it was not enough. Man resolved to do that which was only the providence of the Gods - to create life in his image.

So Man created machine-man, a more perfect man to serve him as all should and must. And from time immemorial, Man ruled and machine-man served and all was good.

But Man was even then, as he is now, a deadly and diabolical creature given to passion and argument. Man quarreled with Man as is his way, and soon his science was turned to the arts of war and of death. And the machine-man was no longer Man's servant, but Man's greatest weapon to be unleashed on other Men.

So the world did burn, and the golden cities were thrown down and Mankind was cast out of the garden and left to huddle in the dark places of the world.

So it has been for millennia.

None remember those times, save the immortal machine-men for all those who once lived are as dust. In those last days, as darkness and defeat descended across Man's dominions and all was despair, a few Men used their final moments of reason to impart wisdom, power and grace to their mechanical creations with the hope of creating a lasting, better world. We machine-men now carry on the legacy of those Men - and make war against Man's degenerate descendants.
